Brixton Lions Win Another Season at Kennington!!
What a fantastic Season for the Lions! Winning 7/10 games and also bagging Best goalie award (George) and player of the season award (kris). George said: “It feels great to finally win the cup back since we won it in 2008.” When asked who will be their biggest competitor next season, Frankie (vice Captain) said Pro Stars: “they gave us a run this season, and it looks like they will give us a run next season as well.” Heres the match report for the final matches...
Brixton Lions 2 Vs Cowley F.C 4 18.00 Kick Off
Scott Kieran x 2
Kris Mike x 2
The game seemed to start well and it was going to be a real battle of the keepers although the title was settled the goalkeeper award was up for grabs and with the league’s leading keepers pitted against each other it would prove to be a tough battle. A sliding challenge from Cowley’s Mike Rye half way through the first half saw him sin binned and yellow carded. As play went on the Lions pressed with the man advantage. An incident took place and after the restart the match was a lot less heated. Both teams played excellently and with vigour. More goals came through on both sides including a shrewd finish from Scott and a great goal from Mike, as the match ended the final score was 4-2 to Cowley. The end of a really good season for the Lions who also made it a clean sweep if it wasn’t for Ginger picking up the top scorers trophy. Kris Cook picked up player of the season for his insurmountable contribution, he was essential to the Lions campaign and their victory.
Congratulations to Brixton Lions but no team has managed to win the trophy 2 years in a row. Will the Lions be the first?
Referee: Kofi
Man of the Match: Matt was well poised in the Lions defence and distributed the ball wonderfully.
Goal of the Game: Mike Rye (Cowley) His second goal was fantastic letting out a lot of frustration he put his boot firmly through it and it nestled in the back of the net leaving the keeper with no chance.

It was clear from the start it is going to be a physical match and so the ref was strict with pushing and holding. Goals came in half way in the first half. Pro Stars scored first, however All Stars equalized 5 minutes later and took control back 6 minutes before half time whistle. The players started to be aggressive in their tackles as the will to win increased. Pro Stars couldn’t get any more goals in, while All Stars were struggling to get shots on target. 4 minutes before half time, Andrew (All Stars) had a run by the side line, the ball was a bit too far from Andrew and a Pro Star defender came in running to get the ball. Both players ran into each other which the ref considered to be a fair challenge, while the ball went out of play. Andrew asked expected a free kick and after being denied continued his protest and inevitably saw red.
Second half found Pro Stars defending most of the time. Inevitably, they got away on a counter attack and Michael scored a hatrick 10 minutes before final whistle. Final score All Stars – Pro Stars 1-3

As the final season night was about to start, both teams were up for a great game. Pro Stars started off with good communication, passes and forward runs while SEF were giving the ball away just off the halfway line. Amara opened the scoring within 10 minutes of play with a great finish. SEF responded quite well after the goal conceded and not only that they equalized but also took the lead with a double by captain Levent. Pro Stars tied the game 1 minute later, Amara scoring his second goal of the night.
Second half was more aggressive than the first. Players got frustrated because of the lack of goals. Pro Stars had a lot of opportunities, shot after shot one better than another but fortunately for SEF the keeper had a great night. 5 minutes before the final whistle Praise scored for Pro Stars and they were getting ready to celebrate a hard earned win when Peter (SEF) had his say in the match 1 minute later.
Final score SEF – Pro Stars 3-3.
