JFC claims VICTORY in Newham League

Congratulations JFC Champions of the Newham league: It was a very tough season for the other teams as JFC Battled their way to the top.  Faizaan Ahmed (captain) of JFC said: “Our victory was inevitable; I always said we will win the league and I will be top goal scorer.” He definitely wasn’t joking with 9/10 wins this season. Here’s the match report for the last games...

Chelsea had the first kick off and they started quite well. They had a couple of good shots and kept JFC in their own half for a few minutes. 5 minutes into play and Faz opened the scoring only to be equalized by Ricki 1 minute later. The great Chelsea start was about to finish after a free kick was awarded for a pass back to keeper which the Chelsea players protested this was then followed by a penalty for a player ‘jumping over’ the area to block a shot from Faz. Chelsea became frustrated and lacked concentration. JFC took advantage and scored goal after goal, while Chelsea only had managed 1.

Second half seemed to be about JFC having fun. Chelsea had ‘abandoned their posts’ in defence allowing JFC opportunities to exploit the keeper. Final score was a devastating 13-5 and JFC finished their season with not just a win but also the champion’s title, top scorer award (Faz) and best goalkeeper award. Congratulations!

 Referee: Adrian

Man of the Match: Faz

Goal of the Game: Faz 19 – Faz won the ball just off the edge of the area and took a close ranged shot, the ball hitting the post and finding its way inside.

Newham              5                         Vs               Trickz n Flickz 1         18.30 Kick

Michael 5, 7, 15                                                  Ben 10

Chris 24

Chie 3

Both sides played quite well but Newham got the upper hand with 2 penalties handed to them in the first half, both taken by Michael. This was due to some careless defending by Tricks n Flicks in the fifth minute of the game. The same defender made the same mistake again by stepping into his goalkeeper area in the seventh minute. Michael made it 2-0 from the penalty mark. Ben pulled one back for Tricks n Flicks in the 10th minute making the score 2-1. Michael made it 3-1 in the 15th minute through some great attacking football and cunning finishing.

The second half was very much the same; both sides were evenly matched except for the goal differences. Chris scored in the 24th minute for Newham making it 4-1 and giving them hope that they could win the league. The hopes were confounded in the 30th minute when Chie sealed the victory 5-1 to Newham.

Wesley the Newham goalkeeper played extremely well proving that it is not just the attacking players but the defensive ones also that make the difference.

Man of the Match: Wesley – he was the keeper to beat on the night

Goal of the Game: Michael – Simple but effective

Taurus                 1                         Vs               Silky Skills        4         Kick Off 19:30

Waldas 35                                                           Shay 12

                                                                           Andrew 15

                                                                          Craig 33

                                                                         Anthony 38

As the match started everyone was fired up, motivated and playing for a win. Silky Skills had possession in the first 10 minutes passing the ball, communicating and missing chance after chance, while Taurus players found themselves defending at all times. Being under pressure for so long, they started to play a more physical game in the midfield against their opponents. The referee had to step in quite often for pushing, holding, charging and a few foul tackles on both sides. Shay (Silky) opened the scoring after 12 minutes of play, only to be doubled by his team mate Andrew 3 minutes later.

Second half went on a bit like the same as first half: Taurus defending and Silky Skills passed the ball around attacking. A lot of tension in Taurus side, they somehow managed to get the ball on the other side more often. 10 minutes before final whistle Silky scored again, while Waldas (Taurus) finalised his chance 2 minutes later. Anthony closed the scoring with a late goal making the final score Taurus 1 Silky Skills 4.

Silky Skills         5                         Vs               Trickz n Flickz  3         19.10 Kick Off

Paul 3,                                                     Michael 26,

Abba 8, 15, 28                                          Max 27

Nick 24                                                    Anthony 32

After coming off of the back of a win it was important that Silky Skills ended the league on a high.  But with an unfamiliar opposition against them it could have been a tricky affair.  Silky started very well with a lot of great passes from front to back.  Tricks and Flicks were lively too trying to win the midfield battle.  Silky pulled in front in the 3rd minute through Paul who finished well into the top corner of the net.  5 minutes later it was Silky again through Abba.  TnF then had a few good spells of possession but it came to no avail.  A foul in midfield led to a Silky free kick which they took quickly and converted. The half time score was 3-0.

In the second half TnF came out of the blocks with a lot more intent and nearly scored through Max however a counter attack led to Nick firing home a wonderful shot and goal of the game.  After this It was all TnF.  They got their first goal of the game through Michael who was awesome on the day.  Another goal followed this time from Max.  Silky’s weaknesses were being exposed and the game was coming to life.  Silky were not about to let TnF run away with it and managed to put some space between themselves again through Abba who bagged his hatrick.  A goal in the 3rd minute for TnF through Anthony set up a nervy finish but Silky Skills held on to make it 2/2.

Referee: Kofi

Man of the Match: Abba scored an awesome hatrick and added some creativity up front.

Goal of the Game: Nick – at the start of the second half he picked up the ball a long way out and let fly a cracking long shot leaving the keeper with no chance.
